The FAA Instrument Rating (IR) refers to the qualifications that a pilot must have in order to fly under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). This rating requires the applicant to hold an FAA private pilot or commercial pilot certificate. The most significant value of flying under IFR is the ability to fly into instrument meteorological conditions (such as inside the clouds) and operating in Class A airspace.

Entry requirements:

Be at least 17 years of age
Hold a valid FAA Private Pilot Certificate
Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Hold a valid FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate
Hold the requirements as per Federal Regulations Part 61.65

17 hours Cessna 172 (Glass) Single Engine Aircraft
10 hours AATD Single Engine Simulator
25 hours Dual Flight Instruction
30 hours Classroom Ground School
5 hours Pre/Post Flight Briefings

International students

This program includes fees associated for the student visa or TSA background/fingerprinting fees. All training is conducted at the Merritt Island facility.
